The Medical Device Authority, the Authority that controls and regulates medical devices and its activities and enforces the medical device laws and related matters in Malaysia. Under the Medical Device Act 2012 (Act 737), Section 44 states that only a registered medical device can be advertised provided that the claims in respect of the medical device is not misleading or fraudulent. At present MDA is finalizing the Code of Advertising (COA) for Medical Devices.

During the seminar, the following topics will be covered:

1. Framework for advertising of medical devices in Malaysia;
2. Code of Advertising for medical devices;
3. Advertising requirements by Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK);
4. Advertising requirements by the Medicine Advertisements Board (MAB);
5. Advertising requirements by The Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission (MCMC)
6. Advertising on halal products
7. Advertising on the mass media

The framework on medical device advertising regulated under Section 44 of the Medical Device Act 2012, and the final draft COA for Medical Devices and the setting up of a Complaints Resolution Panel as an arbitration body will be the highlights of the seminar.

Participants will have the opportunity to review the final draft COA and provide feedback during the workshop session. There will also be a panel discussion where views, opinions and suggestions may be channeled by stakeholders.

This seminar is a must for all medical device players and stakeholders to have a first-hand understanding of the framework, regulations and code pertaining to the advertising of medical devices.
